Murray league

●Cobram started with a strong win against Congupna in the first round of the Murray Netball League, posting a seven-point win with 34-27.

Dominant performances from Meg Denson and Brodie Pfeiffer helped secure the win.

The Tigers’ B-grade team endured a thrilling match to draw 38-all, while C-grade lost by 10 goals and C-reserve posted an 18-goal win over The Road.

●In a very close match, Barooga lost by three goals to the visiting Mulwala side, with its other senior sides also having a tough day against the Lions.

Picola league

●Strathmerton fought out a thrilling match at home to reigning premiers Tocumwal on Saturday in the Picola north west division, losing by just one goal.

Jobena Hocking, Leonie Wren and Kylie Lee-Madgwick led the way for the Bulldogs in a game that had more positives than negatives for the developing side.

Strathmerton’s B-grade side took the honours 50-25, while C-grade and C-reserve also posted wins.

●In the south east division, Katamatite went down by 27 goals to Waaia, which continued its strong season.

The Bulldogs will now have a week off, Yarroweyah will kick-off its season against Deniliquin at home, while Katamatite will be hoping to rebound with a strong performance against Katandra.
