Winners are grinners: The Cobram Midweek Pennant team: Marj Carlisle, Christine Dunne, Marg Cooper, Glen Murphy, Marj McDonald, Kerry Baldacchino, Barb Turner, Joy Mynard, Trish Shields (Manager), George Mynard, Glenys Walker (emergency), Glenda Murphy, Bianca Quinane and Brenda Smethurst.


In the Central Goulburn Murray Region Midweek Pennant final played at the Numurkah Golf Bowls Club last week, Cobram defeated the strong Shepparton Park side by one shot. Scores were level several times during the match but Cobram prevailed over the final ends to win 45-44.

Marj McDonald defeated Di Hands 15-12, Marj Carlisle defeated Marika Armstrong 18-11 and Brenda Smethurst went down to Bev Cahill 12-21.

Cobram will now represent the CGM Region in the State Midweek Pennant Finals to be played at Moama Bowls Club on May 10 to 11.

This week’s trade day was held at Numurkah Golf, sponsored jointly by Amcal Chemist, Numurkah and McNamara First National Real Estate.

The jackpot went off and $615 was shared between John Wright, Seig Seiter and Ian Furness.

Winners of the day with four wins and 67 points were the same winners as last week.

Peter Velardo, John Ellis and Chris Gentle took the honours from Ian Hocking, Ron Bartley and Neil Barnes with four wins and 65 points.

There was another four-game winner in Phil Perkins, Kerian Beare and Bob Walters, so they took the best second game prize.

Best third game winners were John Wright, Seig Seiter and Ian Furness with 21 shots up and best last game winners were Alf Harris, Brian Gentle and Steve Patching.

The N.A.B.A. Award went to Graeme Searle, Allan Mathies and Frank Wilson.

The jackpot starts at $105 this week at Nathalia.

Keith’s Friday attracted 36 bowlers this past week and in pleasant conditions the winners of the day were Vin Toohey and Geoff Bowen with +24.

Runners-up were visitors Les Pratt and Bill Hoog with +11.

Best first game winners were Jeff Slatter and Bill Gowers with +10 and best second game winners were Col Greelish and Ron Quinn with +13.

The jackpot was safe for another week and will be worth $212 this week so get your names in before 12.30pm on Friday for a social game and a chance to win the jackpot.

The 100-up for the men started this Saturday and results will be in later in the week.
