Traffic is being diverted near Koonoomoo following a fire near the Goulburn Valley Highway north of the Murray Valley Hwy intersection on Wednesday morning.
The fire is under control, however, a burning tree on the side of the road has sparked road and lane closures while authorities assess the tree.
There are diversions near the scene on the Murray Valley Hwy and the Goulburn Valley Hwy, with motorists being asked to use alternate roads into Cobram.
The fire is believed to have been sparked by an illegal burn-off about 10am on Wednesday morning.
Authorities are warning people to be vigilant of reduced speed limits and road closures.
