Plenty on during school holidays

April 05, 2017

A skate event will be held in Strathmerton on Friday after a successful similar event in Cobram on Sunday.

Eggcellent activities at the library these holidays

There’s plenty of activities on offer at the Cobram library to tempt inquisitive young minds these school holidays.

As part of the Easter holidays program, kids can also decorate their own 3D Easter Bunny to take home.

It’s recommended for children from age seven and will run tomorrow at 11am.

On Friday, the Rhyme and Storytime session will feature Easter-themed craft activities, rhymes and stories, and will run from 10.30am.

Children can also come in during open hours and make and decorate their own peek-a-boo Easter egg chick at the Cobram Library or enter the Easter colour-in competition.

Also running during the holidays is the 1000 Books Before School program, which is open to all children up to five years old.

Register at any GV Library and pick up a tote bag, reading record and stickers. Each time a book is read to a child, a sticker is placed on their reading record.

When a reading milestone has been achieved, children are rewarded with a small prize, a new reading record and stickers for the next 100 books.

Family fun day kicks off in Strathmerton

There will be plenty of free activities to entertain at Strathmerton on Friday as the Strathmerton Family Fun Day kicks off.

Running from 11am to 3pm at the Strathmerton Skate Park, there will be skateboarding workshops run by OwnLife.

There will also be snow cones, face painting, a sausage sizzle, jumping castle and live music.

The event is all ages and is drug, smoke and alcohol-free.

Moira Shire Mayor Gary Cleveland said he encouraged everyone to join in and participate in the school holiday activities.

‘‘It’s a great opportunity to spend time with the family and we would love to see everyone out and about enjoying the holidays with their family,’’ he said.

The day will be run by OwnLife, Moira Shire Council and Freeza.
