Swim coach Liz Brooke with Sascha Jones.

Sascha Jones, 13, has qualified for the Australian Age Swimming Championships to be held in Brisbane in April.

Sascha made the qualifying time at the Victorian Country Championships in Sale recently, winning a silver medal in the 100m backstroke event, just missing out on gold by 0.001 second.

She also won a bronze medal in the 100m backstroke event at the Victorian Sprint Championships in Melbourne and has taken home another silver medal at the Victorian All Junior Competition in the 50m freestyle event.

Sascha was among 20 local swimmers also competing at the All Junior competition in Melbourne, with Logan White winning bronze in the 9-year 50m butterfly and also securing a place in the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle events.

Zander Griffin also qualified for the final in the 50m freestyle.

Records have been tumbling throughout the various school swimming carnivals with Logan (three records), Macey White (one record), Sophi Bury (one record), Zander (one record), Jackson Bury breaking a record that stood for 23 years in the 50m freestyle event and an impressive eight records from Sascha.

Five S.W.I.M. squad members will represent their respective school State Championships: Sascha (NSW), Ellie Jones (Victoria), Jackson (NSW), Macey (NSW) and Logan (NSW).

Sascha, Sophi, Ben Chesworth, Macey and Logan all joined the Riverina team to compete at the James Brophy Invitational Meet in Canberra on the weekend, with Logan bringing home two silver medals in both the 4x50m freestyle and medley relays and Sascha winning a silver in the 50m freestyle, bronze in the 50m butterfly, and two silver medals in both the 4x50m freestyle and medley relays.

Coach Liz Brooke said the effort Sascha was putting into training was reflected in her outstanding results.

Sascha has stepped up her in preparation for the Nationals in April.
