Roar loses first round

The Cobram Roar senior men’s team is off to a rocky start for season 2017 with an opening round defeat at the hands of Albury United.

Played at its home away from home at Apex in Cobram due to the cricket grand final, the Roar was outplayed and eventually went down with the final score reading 2-1 in favour of the away side.

The players will look to get their season back on track next week when they host St Pats, who suffered a big loss at the hands of Myrtleford.

●Under-14s: 5-3 win.

●Under-13s: 3-6 loss.

●Under-12s: 3-5 loss.

●Under-13 girls: 4-7 loss.

Cobram Roar’s under-13 girls played their first ever game in the AWFA competition.

Despite conceding goals early in the game, Cobram Roar didn’t give up.

Annie scored the Roar’s first goal, Angelina scored the second goal and Charlotte scored two goals in the second half after playing the first half in defence.

Ella had a great game, leading by example as team captain.

The defence was well led by Maz, Claudia and Emily.

Lara had a strong game, both as an attacker in the first half and later as a defender.

The goalie role was shared by Rena and Liv who both did a great job and played well on the field too.

Midfielders Helena and Olivia also provided good support on the pitch.

The girls made some great passes and kept the pressure on the opposition throughout the game.
