March 16, 2017

Thirty-five businesses and individuals have been shortlisted across nine categories as finalists for the 2017 Moira Shire Business Excellence Awards.

Fifteen businesses from the Cobram district have received nods as finalists, with Avery Cabinets and Jones Lawyers and Associates each listed as finalists in two categories.

Moira Shire Council Mayor Gary Cleveland said the finalists showcased the breadth and quality of local business across the shire.

‘‘Our awards recognise excellence across a wide range of areas, from young business person of the year to accessibility and e-business,” Cr Cleveland said.

‘‘All our finalists have demonstrated excellence. It is now in the hands of the judging panel to determine the overall winners for each of the nine categories.’’

The award winners will be determined by an independent professional judging panel and will be announced at a gala awards dinner at the Yarrawonga Town Hall on Friday, May 26.

‘‘The gala dinner features Dan Gregory from the ABC’s Gruen Transfer as keynote speaker, and Yarrawonga’s own Tracie Holgate as MC,’’ Cr Cleveland said.

‘‘The night will celebrate the contribution of small business across the Moira Shire and beyond. We encourage everyone to book their tickets today.’’
