Drum wants MDBA to move

March 15, 2017

Federal Member for Murray Damian Drum wants the Murray-Darling Basin Authority to be moved to Shepparton.

‘‘Shepparton and the Goulburn Murray region are reliant on the successful implementation of the Murray-Darling Basin Plan,’’ Mr Drum said.

‘‘Shepparton is the best site for the relocation of the Murray-Darling Basin Authority.

‘‘Relocating the MDBA to Shepparton will provide the authority with the outstanding opportunity to be totally connected with all stakeholders.

‘‘This could only enhance better outcomes for the environment, economy and in particular agriculture. Relocating the authority has the full support of the local community.

Mr Drum encouraged local governments, business groups and community associations in the Murray electorate to contact his office if they were interested in making a submission to the inquiry.

‘‘Now is the time to have your say on bringing jobs to our region,’’ he said.
