Big chop for charity

Chop it all off: Cobram Secondary College student Stephanie Humphries will be cutting her hair off in the name of fundraising.

One student at Cobram Secondary College is doing her part to raise money for leukaemia by deciding to shave off all of her hair.

Stephanie Humphries has decided to take part in this year’s Worlds Greatest Shave in memory of her grandfather, who died from the disease two years ago.

‘‘It is obviously a horrible disease, and it has affected not only my family, but heaps of others so to try and raise some money to help fight it just made sense,’’ Stephanie said.

She said her fundraising efforts had been going well so far with the donation tins that had been set up at Ritchies IGA in Cobram a big success.

‘‘To be honest I am not too sure how much I have raised so far, and I don’t really have a goal,’’ she said.

‘‘I am just trying to raise as much as I possibly can.’’

Stephanie said she had been in contact with Strathmerton Lions Club to possibly raise some more money and a casual clothes day at Cobram Secondary College was also going to be used to get extra funds.

The hair cutting will take place at Cobram Secondary College on Thursday, March 16 with a local hairdresser doing the deed.

‘‘I think I might also auction off individual cuts to other students if they are interested,’’ Stephanie said.
