Tigers join in parkrun

New crew: Members of the Katamatite Football Netball club took over Cobram parkun on Saturday.

Cobram parkrun turned black and gold in February when the Katamatite Football Netball Club members filled all volunteer roles on one of the Saturday morning runs.

The club has been promoting parkrun to maintain year-round fitness.

The members enjoyed the satisfaction of volunteering and celebrating the 101 other participants’ achievements.

On Saturday, junior volunteers also took to the track to run the event.

Cobram parkrun is a free, timed 5km event, manned by volunteers and running every Saturday in Cobram at 8am.

People meet at Thompsons Beach at 7.50am for a quick briefing of the event and course. The start line is along the river at the east end of the car park.

The course follows the river under the bridges then along to Quinn Island. Participants cross the bridge and complete a circuit of Quinn Island track before following the river back to Thompsons Beach.

The 5km finish line is just prior to reaching the car park.

Anyone in the community is welcome to join in the fun each Saturday.

Don’t let the term parkrun deter you if you want to walk or run/walk. Lots of people young, old and in between walk the 5km. Dogs on short leads are also welcome.
