Clinics given by Melbourne City players

February 08, 2017

Learning from the best: Young soccer players from the Murray Valley learn from Melbourne City players at a clinic held in Finley.

More than 40 children from the local area including Cobram, Finley, Jerilderie and Yarrawonga were at the Finley Showgrounds precinct on Saturday, February 4 to participate in a clinic conducted by two representatives from Melbourne City Football Club.

The sessions started with the under-6s to under-8s, followed by a session with the under-10s to under-14s.

There were lots of drills aimed at developing important skills such as ball control, dribbling, running with the ball, goal shooting, match playing and being a team player.

It was a warm day and the water bottles were used and refilled a lot.

The enthusiasm and enjoyment was evident on the children’s faces and all the local soccer stars had a wonderful time.

The parents were on the sidelines watching and encouraging their children, and there were some new faces to the soccer scene and many players from Cobram Junior Soccer Association attended the day.

Thanks goes to Finley Cricked Club for having a barbecue and drinks available on the day.

Cobram Junior Soccer Association will hold a six-week pre-season program starting in March.

Cost will be $50 which includes a pack containing a ball, bag and drink bottle.
