Community spirit is alive and well in Cobram

Lunchtime gathering: Plenty of people turned up to the Cobram Community House for the first community lunch of 2017.

The smell of sausages sizzling on the barbecue could be smelled on Friday as Cobram Community House held its first community lunch of the year.

The meal was also a way for the community house to say thanks to all of the suppliers who kindly donate their goods throughout the year.

Cobram Community House’s Jean Campbell said it was great to see so many people come and enjoy the lunch and have a good time.

‘‘We really owe a lot of thanks to our suppliers that enable us to hold lunches like this one,’’ Ms Campbell said.

‘‘Inviting all of them down was just our way of saying thank you and we hope that they have enjoyed themselves.’’

The lunch on Friday was a joint effort between the community house and the Cobram Men’s Shed, whose members were outside cooking up the sausages.

‘‘JD Conti, Bakers Delight in Cobram and Kelly Brothers — who all help us put on our lunches through their support — were able to come so we are grateful for that and all of their help,’’ Ms Campbell said.

●Cobram Community House holds its community lunch on the first Friday of every month and requires just a gold coin donation.
